While House Speaker Boehner hopes the Senate will pass his measure, more likely is a last-ditch effort to find a compromise, The Associated Press says.
Boehner's plan and the Senate alternative have enough in common that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. suggested on Wednesday that a compromise could be easy to put together.
"Magic things can happen here in Congress in a very short period of time under the right circumstances," Reid said.
